Back in Middenheim proper, we went directly to the Grand High Wizard’s office. Nevermind that he was in the middle of a meeting, we smelled like death, looked like death, and the man needed to know what we had done. Wilhelm demanded an honorary doctorate. I’m going to make sure he gets one, whether the wizard college gives it to him or not, if you know what I mean.
We took Gottlieb to the Temple of Shallya. They stated they couldn’t do anything for him until he had healed from his injuries a bit; he was too badly wounded and he needed surgery.
We took Gottlieb to the Physician’s Guild, where he promptly went in to surgery. We didn’t all need to be there, so some of us took off to the snotball games.
While we were gone, Gottlieb was shot. Right on the operating table. Larry said he tried to track the shooter down, from a rooftop across the way, but found nothing. Gottlieb required further healing.
When he came to, Gottlieb insisted on helping with the rest of our current mission: acquiring the drug for the Chancellor. I say “insisted,” though he doesn’t really talk a lot anymore. He mostly just storms away in a huff, and we have to translate what it means.
We looked for redirection from the remains of The Pit so we could meet Bruno at the Drowned Rat. We were followed by a man with a heavy, brown beard. Gottlieb insisted on confronting the man, and launched himself up a building to get to him. Gottlieb was knocked off the building, many of his wounds breaking open and bleeding again. We had to help him back to the surgery.
When we made it to the Drowned Rat, Bruno met us in the back alley, and we secured the “medicine” we needed to free the Chancellor from those blackmailing him.
